Safety First!
When choosing a pest control service, it is worth remembering that you are about to allow someone into your home or workplace to potentially
administer toxic chemicals or advise on issues with serious health implications.
Unbelievably, there is no licence or training required to call yourself a pest control expert or to work for a pest control firm, nor to purchase very toxic
chemicals. This fact alone can put yourself and those you care about at considerable risk. It therefore makes perfect sense to check the technician's
qualifications to ensure your safety. This qualification should be verified when you are visited by means of an identification card as shown at the
bottom of the page, very much the same as if you were checking the credentials of a gas engineer. See also FAQ's below.
Why choose Nature in Balance as your pest control service provider?
We are passionate about what we do, and if you like that sort of thing, it's a truly fascinating job! For an industry such as pest control, being
interested is crucial. A trained and qualified technician who is motivated by interest will carry out a more detailed inspection, and therefore prescribe
the most appropriate treatment, which is better for everyone!
About
Technician Justin Peters has a wealth of experience working as senior technician for a local pest control company, often acting as problem solver for
fellow technicians. Taking all this pest control experience, he set up Nature in Balance Pest Control in 2010 with the intention of delivering a more
flexible, professional and forward thinking operation with focus on customer service excellence and tackling the environmental issues that surround
pest control.
Prices and price structures
These can vary between pest control operators, as can the method of control. We will always confirm what the costs will be and what service level
you can expect before any work is carried out. Our prices never mysteriously increase once work has begun. If there is a risk of changes in
circumstance resulting in increased cost, you will be aware of this before it happens. (See also FAQ below)
Guarantees can be given for some pest control procedures, for example, I can guarantee to destroy a wasps nest for you because it is one nest, and
once dead, will never be re-used. However, with most pests, nobody can genuinely guarantee that a recurrence will not happen. If in doubt, please
call and we will talk you through what to expect from a pest control service, and for your pest in particular.
Frequently asked questions.
How do I know you are a genuine, qualified pest controller?
Anyone who is genuinely qualified will be registered with BASIS, who hold a Professional Pest Controllers Register, click the PROMPT button above
to read more. Registered technicians also carry a card with their photo and registration details and a phone number so you can verify their
qualifications (bottom of page)
Membership of the Professional Pest Controllers register also requires that regular training is undertaken to ensure up to date methods are used.
We are also full members of The United Kingdom Pest Control Organisation. To become a member, we must have qualifications, insurance and be
a member of BASIS. The UKPCO has a network of highly trained technicians all over the UK.
I have children and pets, are they safe with your treatments?
Of course! Before we carry out any treatment, we complete a thorough survey and risk assessment. Poisons we may use for rats or mice are housed
in tamper-proof containers where exposed. Insecticides are selected for their safety where this is required. Children and pets are safe when
chemicals are correctly used by properly trained professionals.
How much will it cost?
For some pests, for example wasps, we can give you a fixed price over the phone. Other pest problems may require us to conduct a free inspection
to ensure you get an accurate price for a proper and complete service. This helps avoid additional costs once a job begins, which is a favoured
tactic of the cowboy pest control operation.
How do I know your prices are reasonable?
Prices are regularly checked against our competitors and the local councils. We will also offer the most appropriate, cost effective advice for YOUR
situation, not the most profitable for us, so you can be assured that you are getting the best possible treatment and advice.
Do you charge for a survey to find out the extent of my pest problem?
Never. This service is free and without obligation.
If I call you out, and it turns out not to be a pest problem, or something that cannot be treated, is there a charge?
No, this does happen occasionally, especially when bees are mistaken for wasps, or bat droppings are suspected to be mouse droppings. We are
happy to advise you, but we do not charge.
Will a salesman come and pressurise me into a service or contract I may not need?
Absolutely not! You will be correctly advised by a qualified technician as to what treatment you need. We are here to solve your pest problems, not
wrap you into long term, expensive or un-necessary treatments.
I want to get rid of my pest, but do not like harming animals. How can we clear pests humanely?
Sometimes animals invade our spaces, often with health risks. Control has to be carried out and this is done with animal welfare second only to
human safety as primary concerns. You can be assured that we choose the most humane methods available to us. Often, a pest problem can be
solved without turning to chemicals. Where possible, we will take this option to get rid of pest problems.
Are you a licensed pest controller?
Incredibly, there is no licence system for pest control operators. This means you have to be very careful when selecting your pest control service
provider. (See warnings above)
Customer reviews

Good advice given in Sandhurst. "After many phone calls and conflicting information it was good to finally find someone that was willing and able to
come out and investigate the problem ........... you dealt with it professionally and with minimum fuss and at an affordable price too ....... I will definitely
be recommending you to my friends" NW Sandhurst.
Fast local service in Frensham Village "Fantastic service! Came within a few hours of my call and treated a wasp nest. Very reasonably priced,
very helpful - highly recommended!" D, Farnham.
Holes in the garden - mystery solved in Fernhurst. "The service I received from yourself was excellent. Thank you so much for taking the time to
investigate a potential rat in our garden- even if the rat was a mole who had long departed and the droppings were, rather embarrasingly, just
dropping-shaped bits of peat! I was concerned that our 17 month old daughter had been playing in the garden near to where these holes in the lawn
were. After calling the council's pest control department and being told I would have to wait nearly a week for someone to come out, it was reassuring
to know that you were available to provide a free assessment of the situation. Sorry for wasting your time, but if I have any other issues with pests
then you will be the first person to call and I would have no hesitation in recommending you to my friends. Thanks again." JA West Sussex.
